The Kelly Williams and Andrew Forsyth Community BioBlitz at Phipps Ocean Park will take place Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. This first event will document the species present before construction, providing a critical baseline for future comparison. These findings will be shared at the official kick-off hosted by Kelly Williams and Andrew Forsyth that will be held in Fall 2025 at the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach.

Training will be provided at 9:00 and 10:00 am at the Little Red Schoolhouse by Susan Lerner, Director of Horticulture, Keith Buttry, Botanical Curator, Mindi Ogden, Ecologist, and Scott Zucker, President of Audubon Everglades. Participants in the BioBlitz will use the free citizen science applications iNaturalist and eBird to record all the species they see, contributing to databases of information that support conservation studies world-wide. All ages and levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Thanks to the generosity of Kelly and Andrew, the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach will be able to hold biannual BioBlitz events to document the flora and fauna at Phipps Ocean Park as the native ecosystems are reintroduced and mature.
