Classification of Plants
Students learn how and why plants are classified based on macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. As they explore the native plants at Pan’s Garden, they explore similarities and differences used to classify the native plants and are tasked with determining what makes each plant family special.
We prefer one class per field trip and can accommodate 30 students maximum.

Food Webs & Decomposition
As students explore the variety of native plants in Pan’s Garden’s different ecosystems, they learn how they support South Florida’s food webs. Students also explore decomposition and conduct soil testing to detect nitrogen levels!

Photosynthesis
Students learn how the native plants at Pan’s Garden are adapted to conduct photosynthesis in different conditions. They observe leaf cells under a microscope to discover how photosynthesis can be regulated. Through experimentation, students learn more about how photosynthesis works and how we can collect supporting evidence that it has taken place.
